Internal Medicine, Salem

Our practice is located at the convenient location of 400 Highland Ave in Salem, MA. As an Internal Medicine office, we provide outstanding primary care and preventative health care to adult patients.

Overview

We are seeking a full- time, 40- hour Lead Medical Assistant to support our practice onsite Monday through Friday from 8:30AM to 5:00PM.

The Lead Medical Assistant is responsible for providing leadership and oversight of clinical operations. The Lead MA will supervise 10 Medical Assistants and manage tasks including patient evaluations, prescription refills, prior authorizations, specimen collection, vaccine administration, In basket messaging, telephone outreach, and incoming fax/mail processing.

In this role, you will:

  • Demonstrate leadership by making independent decisions, resolving problems, and addressing risk situations to prevent escalations.
  • Promote patient satisfaction through professional, friendly, and patient-centered interactions.
  • Train and mentor clinical support staff, supporting career development and providing feedback on performance.
  • Lead monthly clinical support staff meetings, prepare agendas, document minutes, and ensure follow-up communication.
  • Manage ordering and inventory of medical supplies and vaccines for the office.
  • Conduct routine exam room audits to maintain cleanliness, proper stocking, and removal of expired items.
  • Oversee CLIA Lab operations, including POCT equipment and supply compliance.
  • Review charge capture for accuracy and efficiency in billing practices.
  • Provide regular feedback to staff and collaborate with leadership on performance evaluations.
  • Serve as a backup to the Practice Manager when needed.

Required:

  • High School diploma/GED
  • National MA Certification via AAMA, AMT, NHA, or NCCT
  • Either BLS or Annual Manikin training including CPR and AED after 6 months of hire

Preferred:

  • Medical Assistant Course or diploma program or a minimum of 3 years of professional experience
  • 2 Years of supervisory experience, including the ability to train and mentor others.
