Mass General Brigham Salem Hospital is seeking a Board-Certified Emergency Medicine physician with demonstrated leadership skills in quality improvement and operations to serve as the Chair of the Department of Emergency Medicine.
Salem Hospital (SH) is a 371-bed community hospital located north of Boston in the City of Salem, Massachusetts. It is the largest health care provider on the Massachusetts North Shore, offering exceptional medical and surgical care, innovative advances and a deep-rooted commitment to the community. It is a Level III Trauma Center, recognized by the American Heart Association as Stroke Gold Plus hospital, and the first hospital on the North Shore to offer advanced care for sexual assault patients.

The Chair of Emergency Medicine has clinical responsibilities for all emergency services and programs at SH and reports to the President & COO of SH, the SH Board of Trustees, and the Chief of MGB Enterprise Emergency Medicine.
The Chair will be a highly regarded clinician and a visionary leader who will support the hospital’s strategic goals, work collaboratively with other departments and uphold the mission and values of Salem Hospital.
Department Highlights
The SH Emergency Department provides both adult and pediatric emergency care at its state-of-the-art facility, which was entirely renovated in 2019. There were more than 71k emergency visits in the prior year.
It has 65 private patient bays, a dedicated space for behavioral health patients, and a dedicated waiting room and patient bays for pediatric patients. The 9-bay Pediatric ED Pod is staffed 24 hours/day.
